Press Release Jason Patterson
Jason was born and raised in Southern Indiana and grew up hunting whitetail deer in the corn belt of the Midwest. Throughout my teenage years, I was a full-blown deer hunter, using every weapon imaginable chasing the elusive trophies of the Midwest. Fishing was also a big part of my early years thanks to my father who carried me along on many fishing trips to farm ponds and small impoundments. Bass fishing also became an addiction of mine causing me to pursue more and more knowledge which enabled me to get into tournament fishing once I ended up in Tennessee. Moving to Tennessee when my parents were relocated was a blessing in disguise. Tennessee is loaded with all sorts of hunting and fishing opportunities. After settling down, I got into tournament fishing, which really got my outdoor career in motion. Fishing tournaments all over the midsouth helped me get into the outdoor field, where I promoted several companies, doing shows, guiding and doing seminars. Fishing is a passion of mine, and still is to this day. When I am not Waterfowling, you can find me in local tournaments trying to catch big stringers of largemouth. Representing the following companies: Bumble Bee Boats, Mercury Outboards, and Touchdown Worms, it gave me a jumpstart into the outdoor writing world, in which I focus on today.
With my lovely wife Kim, and my sons Devin and Oakley, my whole family shares in the outdoor experience of Tennessee. They all like to hunt and fish, which is what all fathers want and I am thankful for that. Waterfowling came into the picture about 10 years ago, and I have not been the same ever since. Hunting Kentucky Lake and Reelfoot with my boys is what I look forward to every year, they are hard-core duck hunters and I have trouble just keeping up with them. I am currently on pro staff's for: Buck Gardner, Quest Outdoors, Wad Wizard, McCoy Fishing Line, Fish Formula and Drake Waterfowl. Outdoor Writing takes up the majority of my time now, I am always on the road looking for new story ideas and the majority of my waterfowl season is helping Quest Outdoors, doing outdoor shows, product testing, sales and promotional activities such as videography, and writing trips. I have relied on Quest Outdoors products for 5 years now and they are a lethal part of my duck hunting arsenal. Quest Outdoors has the most realistic decoys made and they will definitely put a hurt on the waterfowl migration for years to come. On the writing side of things, my specialties are definitely bass fishing and waterfowl. Being an outdoor writer really has been the best of both worlds, hunting and fishing and being able to write about it. I write for the following publications: West Tennessee Outdoors, Sportsmen's Digest, Midsouth Hunting and Fishing, and Calling Ducks.com. Jason is 33 years old and currently resides in Jackson TN; he can be reached at pattersonoutdoors@charter.net. Garry Mason
Garry Mason grew up in Buchanan TN, a small, rural community in West Tennessee where hunting and fishing was as much a way of life as it was an outdoor recreation. Loving nature and all that it encompasses, Garry spent as much time as possible in the woodlands and waterways that comprise the lower Tennessee and Cumberland valleys including the waters of Kentucky Lake.
After High school, Garry married his high school sweetheart, Cindy, and settled down to working in a factory, all the while building a name for himself in the outdoor world as a part time professional hunting and fishing Guide. 1991 brought about allot of changes to the Paris TN area with several plant closings, one of which was the factory that Garry had worked at for 16 plus years. Without a career to fall back on, Garry decided to pursue the career of becoming a full time professional guide. Traveling and guiding in several other states besides Tennessee, Garry soon became one of the most respected Professional Guides in America. Waterfowl hunting and wing shooting as well as Crappie, Bass, and Bluegill fishing where his passions. Soon, outdoors news media people such as outdoor writers and television hosts from across America began to use Garry for articles and TV shows. Garry has been featured in almost every Outdoors Magazine in American including the past 16 issues of Crappie World Magazine. Having gotten to know many other well known outdoorsmen in his travels, Garry saw a need for some type of award ceremony for those men and woman who had helped to blaze trails and set guidelines and standards in the outdoors industry in which he and others had devoted so much of their lives to, therefore giving birth to The Legends of the Outdoors National Hall of Fame in 2002. Devin Johnson
Devin was born and raised in West Tennessee and began hunting waterfowl at the age of 11. Addicted from that point, he now pursues waterfowl throughout the season with the Quest Outdoors team alongside his stepfather and Quest Outdoors Pro Staffer, Jason Patterson. A unique addition to the staff of Quest Outdoors, Devin is a very accomplished artist and is helping with the graphic designs for Quest Outdoors. You will be seeing his designs throughout the company, logos, t-shirts, and decals, just to name a few. He has won various awards and recently placed 3rd in the Tennessee Jr. Duck Stamp contest. He has a love for waterfowl drawings and paintings and plans to continue his art profession at the college level. At 14 years of age, he is currently attending Liberty Technology High School in Jackson TN. Devin has chosen the agriscience technology path and this too will educate him in preservation of the outdoors. Devin is a freshman baseball player for Liberty. Devin also has a love for bass fishing and will be teaming with his stepfather in tournaments in the upcoming years. Devin enjoys spending time with his family, his mother Kim, his little brother Oakley and his stepfather, Jason. “We all try to do something in the outdoors together, whether it be hunting or fishing and it also keeps us out of trouble” Devin said. Devin also has a lot of the photo taking responsibilities for various writing trips that he and is stepfather goes on and also dabbles in the video field a bit. Devin will be working on future art projects for Quest Outdoors and also will be helping control the waterfowl population with the Quest Outdoors team, “Mallard Master decoys and greenheads in your face is what it is all about” Devin said.
Jim Galindos
Jimmy is the Houston, Texas area. He called me and ordered some of our motion decoys and has been an avid user ever since. We have developed a friendship over the last few years and his enthusiasm over my products was a "NO BRAINER" for the reason for his addition to the staff. Besides being an avid waterfowler, he is a guide, a Master Class Shooter, Shooting Instructor and a heck of a guy. If you want to hunt ducks in south Texas, he is your man. You can reach him at www.fowlmouthguide.com . Check his site out and notice the Mallard Master Pros and Feedn' Frenzys in the back ground. They are not a prop. It is just, "how it is".
Jimmy Rodgers
I grew up hunting and fishing. That is what all young boys do that live in a small farming community in KY. Some outgrow it and moved on, others make it an obsession! Mine is a true obsession. I was introduced to duck hunting in the mid ‘90s. Since then, I eat, sleep, and hunt ducks. I have traveled from the East coast to the West Coast hunting ducks and geese. Hunting ducks goes hand and hand with my other love of training dogs. My wife, Jennifer, and I started professionally training labs in 2001. We recently added a line of bird dogs to our kennel, as I truly enjoy quail hunting as well. Over the years, I have competed in duck & goose calling competitions. In 2007, we purchased Down Home Outdoors, which we take to sporting & hunting shows during the summer months. You can blow a whole lot more calls, if you sell them for part of your living! My farm is nestled along the banks of Pinch creek which we actively manage for wildlife habitat.
